Technical Specifications & Quantified Impacts

Below are the technical details and sustainability metrics that define the performance of our B-Corp Certified furniture.

Material Composition:

  • Post-Consumer Recycled Plastics: Our signature chairs are made from 100% recycled polypropylene (PP), sourced from discarded consumer electronics and industrial waste. This process diverts waste from landfills and reduces the demand for virgin plastic.

  • Recycled Fishing Nets (Nylon): We partner with organizations to recover discarded fishing nets, which are a major source of ocean pollution. These nets are processed into high-quality nylon granules for our product lines.

  • Recycled Steel: Our metal frames and hardware are crafted from 100% recycled steel, which significantly lowers the energy consumption and carbon emissions associated with new steel production.

  • LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) Data:

    • Carbon Footprint Reduction: By using recycled materials, we achieve up to an 85% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to similar products made from virgin materials for Keyboard Black, Fishermans Green & Pharma Blue. Footprint for one R.U.M.- Chair is maximum 15,2 kilos per chair (4 legs and no upholstery). Wehlers believes that this is the lowest footprint number in the World, for new chairs. Best footprint is the chair one sat in yesterday. All footprints are found in this PDF: here

    • Water Consumption: Our FULL circular manufacturing processes reduce water consumption by approximately 90%.

    • Waste Diversion: Our commitment to using recycled content diverts thousands of kilograms of plastic and metal waste from landfills and oceans each year: Fishing nets, e-Waste & Pharma.
