Most companies chasing Scope 3 reductions focus on travel, supply chain logistics, or energy. Office furniture rarely makes the shortlist. It should.

What is Scope 3, Category 1 — and why does furniture qualify?

Under the GHG Protocol, Scope 3 emissions are indirect emissions in your value chain. Category 1 covers purchased goods and services — everything your organisation buys that has a carbon footprint before it arrives at your door.
